There were two winners for November’s Story of the Month with Kelsey Greenslade and Josie Schwartz!
ADM’s Kelsey Greenslade earned November’s Story of the Month with her Accessibility for All at the Adel Family Fun Center story. This article discusses the 6 day turnaround in making the Adel Family Fun Center accessible for the 2024 Iowa Special Olympics Bowling Tournament. This also earned Kelsey a Best of SNO award!
Greenslade’s story is a type of story that sometimes gets overlooked because it happened in a short period of time. Way to recognize a good story when you see it and act on getting the story covered, Kelsey! You can read the full article on ADM’s Black and Redgister news site.

West High’s Josie Schwartz also earned November’s Story of the Month with her Puzzle Pieces: Iowa City’s generational movement to preserve the prairies story. This article earned Josie 2nd place in NSPA’s Fred Ross Systemic Change contest at the JEA Convention in Philadelphia!
Schwartz’ story was a unique topic that had ramification outside of school. It had extensive interviewing and weaves a global topic to a local angle. It also includes a nice photo and infographic. Overall a complete package. Congrats, Josie! You can read the full article on West Side Story.
